Send a Document for E-Signature
Send an approved Statement of Work or Contract to a client for signature, or record execution manually.
Send a Document for E-Signature
Once a Statement of Work or Contract is approved, it can be sent to the client for signature.
Before You Start
Confirm that:
- The document's status is Approved. The option isn't available in Draft or Internal Review.
- You have a customer signatory contact on file.
Steps
- Open the approved Statement of Work or Contract.
- Send it for e-signature, and select the customer signatory contact.
- Place the signature field on the document — and on a linked SOW/Contract too, if you want to send both together in a single request.
- Compose the email that goes out with the signing link.
- Send. The document's status moves to Sent.
After the Client Signs
The system doesn't detect a completed signature on its own — check for it:
- Open the sent document.
- Check its signature status.
- Once it shows complete, the document's status updates to Signed (SOW) or Active (Contract).
Recording Execution Manually
If a document was signed outside the system, such as a wet-signed scan:
- Open the sent document.
- Record execution manually.
- Upload the signed document and enter the signed date and signatory.
Troubleshooting
If the "Send for E-Signature" option isn't available:
- Check the document's status. It must be Approved first. See Submit and Approve a Statement of Work or Contract.
If the client hasn't signed yet:
- Check the signature status from the document — this is a manual action, not automatic.
- Resend or follow up with the client directly if needed.
